At the Islamic Center of Baton Rouge (ICBR), we are honored to assist our community with the sacred covenant of Nikah (marriage ceremony).

In Islam, Nikah is conducted in accordance with the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, and it fulfills the requirements of a valid marriage in Islam. It is both a spiritual and legally binding union — a covenant with Allah to honor, respect, care for, and love one’s spouse.

Nikah ceremonies at ICBR may be conducted by an authorized Imam or officiant.

Requirements for Conducting a Nikah

Application

Marriage License

Obtain a Marriage License from the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court.
Please contact the Clerk of Court’s office directly for fees, documents, and requirements.
The license is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance.
The license is not valid for the first 72 hours after issuance.

Marriage Documentation

Nikah ceremonies at ICBR may be conducted by an authorized Imam or officiant.
